Assessing the Economic Value of the Independent Museums Sector

DC Research was appointed to conduct a study to estimate the Economic Value of the Independent Museum Sector for the Association of Independent Museums (AIM).  The project involved the study team consulting with a selection of key partners, conducting a survey of the whole AIM Membership, and producing an impacts toolkit that museums can use to demonstrate the impact of their activities to their local and regional economies.

The final report was presented at the AIM Annual Conference in June 2010, and the full report, and executive summary and the toolkit are available to download from the AIM website at the link below:
The output from the study will be used both for advocacy work by AIM at a national level on behalf of the sector as a whole, and by individual and small groups of independent museums at a local and regional level.  For further information, please contact Jonathan Durnin
