Evaluating the South of Scotland Creative Enterprise Initiative

Evaluating the South of Scotland Creative Enterprise Initiative

In November 2012, Scottish Borders Council commissioned DC Research Ltd to carry out an evaluation of the South of Scotland Creative Enterprise Initiative (SoSCEI) project. SoSCEI is known to the creative sector and other agencies by its brand name – Creative Arts Business Network (CABN) http://www.cabn.info/.

The aim of the evaluation was to: assess the degree of success and impact of the CABN project in the Scottish Borders; analyse the quantitative and qualitative benefits to businesses involved in activities promoted by the project; present 3 case studies of creative businesses who have benefited from the CABN project; and analyse the delivery model of the CABN project providing recommendations and learning.

As well as a range of desk based research tasks, the study involved face-to-face consultations and meetings with key stakeholders and project beneficiaries as well as an e-survey of creative individuals and enterprises involved in the CABN project.
